The WBA Lady Knicks are proud to announce that 2019 will mark our 32nd season of AAU girls' basketball. Our two-fold mission remains as true today as it did at our inception in 1987. First, we strive to teach student athletes the fundamentals of the game and how to compete at the highest levels. Second, we appropriately showcase our older players in front of college coaches with the hope of securing opportunities at the collegiate level. Ultimately, our process will assist each student athlete in improving as a player, student and person.
All players must register prior to try outs - Click HERE for 2019 AAU Player Registration.
This spring the Lady Knicks plan to field three showcase teams for our high school players, the Gold, Silver and Bronze teams. The Gold Team will be for the most accomplished players, regardless of grade. The Silver and Bronze teams will be for the next tier showcase caliber players. We anticipate ten spots for each team; an additional player may be added at the discretion of the coaching staff. Placement on a showcase team will be based on ability, commitment and availability. Grade level or past placement will not assure a place on a showcase team. Younger players may be invited to try out for the showcase teams but this will be solely at out coaching staff's invitation. Should we have enough able candidates, we may add an additional high school level team.
We will maintain grade level teams for the 4th through 8th grades and anticipate 10-11 spots for each team. There may be multiple teams in each grade depending on the number of able candidates.
Skilled and dedicated players can look forward to:
- Two practices per week (Tuesdays & Thursdays) at the House of Sports
- Fundamental skill based instruction
- Experienced, non-parent coaching staff
- Competitive tournament schedule, 6 to 10 local and overnight tournaments depending on grade/level
- Showcase teams must fully commit to Summer schedule (June - July)
- College recruiting assistance.
